Every Donation Counts.

Funding to operate the library comes from tax appropriations, existing endowments, donations, and fundraising events. We receive no state or federal funds. Your financial support empowers individuals, strengthens families, and makes our community a better place to live.  Please consider a monthly donation, no matter how small, to help us. Give to the Lawrence Memorial Library today to ensure that our beautiful library continues to serve our community for 100 more years.

Lawrence Memorial Library is more than a place to find books; it is a place to connect, learn, grow, both within the walls of our building and beyond to your home, office, or on the go.

The library provides resources for job seekers, support for language learners, early literacy programs for young children and their families, assistance with new technology and help navigating the increasingly complex world of online information.

Planned Giving

We hope you’ll consider including a gift to Lawrence Memorial Library in your will or living trust, or naming Lawrence Memorial Library as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement assets. Your gift will create a legacy to help ensure the library will be enjoyed for generations to come. The library has partnered with the Vermont Community Foundation to establish planned gifts. Contact us for more information.

Tributes and Memorial Gifts

Give a gift to the Lawrence Memorial Library as a tribute or in honor of a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion. This is particularly meaningful way to acknowledge someone, while also supporting the library. Contact us for more information.

Gifts of Stocks and Bonds

The library gratefully accepts the transfer of securities directly from you or your broker. Contact us for more information.

Gifts of Securities

Securities are an excellent asset to give to the library. You receive an income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock, you may avoid capital gains tax on the sale of the stock, and the stock may avoid estate tax at your death.

Life Insurance

Life insurance policies, which have a cash value, may be donated to the library. You receive an income tax deduction for the value of the policy on the date of the gift and the insurance policy is removed from your estate at death, as well.

Charitable Remainder Trust

The library can work with your attorney to help you establish a charitable remainder trust of “CRT”. Under a CRT, you can make a gift to an irrevocable trust retaining an income stream for life; at the end of your life, any property remaining in the trust passes to the library. You receive an income tax deduction for a portion of the gift and the trust asset is removed from your estate at your death. You may save capital gains taxes too.

Gift of a Remainder Interest in a Personal Residence or Farm

You can also make a gift of a personal residence to the Library, retaining the right to live in the residence for the rest of your life. You receive an income tax deduction for a portion of the value of your residence and remove it from your taxable assets. The fundraising professionals at the library are available to work with your lawyer to help structure such a gift.

Benefit Events

Events offer a unique way to support the library. Contributions to events are tax-deductible (excluding goods and services provided) and all proceeds ensure that we continue to advance the library’s mission of providing exceptional services and programs to the entire  community.
